New Capital One Venture X bonus category: Earn 5 miles per dollar spent on select entertainment purchases – The Points Guy

Holders of select Capital One cards now have a fun new reason to use them.
In addition to its other earnings rates, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Venture X Business, Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business will now earn 5 miles per dollar spent on purchases made through the Capital One Entertainment platform. This will make your next cross-country flight to a dream concert or sporting event that much more feasible.
TPG values Capital One miles at 1.85 cents apiece, giving you a 9.25% return on those purchases. This bonus category ends Dec 31, 2025.
Here's what you need to know.
This new earning category is a nice pairing with the issuer's Capital One Entertainment platform, which lets cardholders purchase or redeem their rewards for (nonrefundable) tickets to thousands of events worldwide. The platform is powered by Vivid Seats, an online marketplace for tickets to sporting events, concerts and theater performances.
Capital One Entertainment also offers access to presale events, plus curated "Cardholder Exclusive" packages with things like meet-and-greet opportunities at concerts. These features are available to most Capital One cardholders. But, this new bonus category for Venture, Venture X, Venture X Business and Spark Miles for Business cardholders makes it that much more valuable if you're a live music or sports junkie, for example.
For most Capital One cards, you can redeem your miles at a rate of 0.8 cents each through the entertainment platform. That's well below TPG's valuation of Capital One miles at 1.85 cents apiece. Still, it could be well worth it if you're miles-rich and snag some hard-to-get tickets on presale or get to attend an event you've always dreamed of.
A new 5 miles per dollar bonus category, however limited, is just one more reason why the Venture and Venture X are some of the best rewards cards on the market. Remember you have to book through the Capital One Entertainment platform — this doesn't apply to all entertainment purchases like movie tickets.
If you love live events and had previously been holding off on a new travel card, now might be the time to jump on it. You could even be one of the lucky ones taking advantage of the next Taylor Swift-esque ticket bonanza.
